Volunteering is a great way to stay connected with WMU and your fellow alumni while helping your alma mater reach its goals. There are a number of ways to give your time to WMU including mentorships, becoming a Heritage Hall docent, or becoming a regional champion.
ALUMNI MENTOR PROGRAM
The Alumni Mentor Program connects alumni with current students looking for personal and professional development to further their WMU experience and enhance their career goals. Alumni Mentors will provide industry knowledge and advice while having the opportunity to network with fellow mentors.
The MyWMU Regional Champions are alumni and friends of WMU who live outside of the southwest Michigan area and want to help keep their fellow local alumni connected to their alma mater. Regional Champions are asked to suggest local venues for watch parties and alumni socials, in addition to occasionally helping host those events.
MOVERS AND SHAKERS
The Movers and Shakers Crew comes together in late August to help WMU’s newest Broncos move into their new homes on campus. Volunteers spend theirs shifts welcoming parents and students, watching personal items, handing out bottled water to movers, assisting with check-in, and moving boxes and other items into the halls.
ALUMNI AMBASSADOR PROGRAM
The Alumni Admissions Ambassadors program connects alumni with high school seniors who have been admitted to WMU. Alumni volunteers send congratulatory postcards, which the Office of Development & Alumni Relations will provide, to these students along with a short message encouraging them to enroll at WMU.
The MyWMU Social Champions are alumni and friends of WMU who love promoting WMU on social media and want to get noticed for it. Social Champions help MyWMU spread the good word by sharing specific content through their various personal social media accounts, earning points to win swag.
